Message from Principal, Jeff Cassell

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year!

It is an exciting time for all of us at Greenville High School as we begin another year. The renovations have been extensive for the high school, but the construction will be over soon and our classrooms will be full again with students with high expectations and achievements that make us all so proud. Greenville High School is where the “wave continues”. I am the new principal at GHS and my name is Jeff Cassell. I grew up and lived in Darke County for forty-six years. The last nine years I have lived in Butler Township near Vandalia. I am entering my thirty-fourth year in education. I have 19 years of high school experience as a teacher, coach, and athletic director at Ansonia Local Schools, Franklin-Monroe Local Schools, and Newton Local Schools. In addition to the athletic director experience at Franklin-Monroe, I have administrative experience as a principal at Bradford Jr. High/High School, principal at Morton Middle School in Vandalia-Butler City Schools, and the Vandalia-Butler High School principal. I also have central office experiences as Director of Human Resources and Technology at Vandalia-Butler City Schools and Superintendent at Bethel Local Schools. Last year, I was where the “wave begins” at Woodland Primary School as principal. I look forward to continuing my work with this great district, and getting to know you.

I graduated from Franklin-Monroe High School in 1978, then from Manchester College in 1982, and received my master's degree from Miami University in 1987. I also attended the University of Dayton for my Principal and Superintendent Licenses. In my spare time I enjoy playing and watching sports, as well as spending time with my wife, Margret, and two daughters Lauren and Kacie. Lauren spent a couple of years teaching mathematics in Houston, Texas and coaching soccer. Lauren played basketball in college at Ohio Northern University. She is presently working in Houston as a Junior Business Analyst for the USI Insurance Company. Kacie graduated from the University of Akron where she was the point guard and led the Zips to their first ever NCAA tournament game vs. Purdue University. She also led the nation in assists her junior year. She will be starting her second year of Pharmacy School at Northeast Ohio Medical University where she is pursuing her Pharmacy Doctoral Degree.

I encourage you as a parent to be involved as much as possible in your student’s education. Emphasize the importance of school, provide a distraction-free time and place for homework, and have daily conversations about what is happening at school. If there are questions or concerns that arise, please do not hesitate to contact me, Mr. Stan Hughes, Mr. David Torrence, Mr. Carl Brown or your student’s teachers. An open line of communication is a crucial element as we strive toward each student’s success. You can reach me at 937-548-4188 ext. 822 or jcassell@greenville.k12.oh.us

I hope you are able to find useful and valuable information on this site throughout the year. It is our goal to keep the site updated and accurate. If, at any time, you have suggestions or questions in regards to the website, please let me know.

Jeffrey S. Cassell, Greenville High School Principal
