Tuition Reimbursement

Guidelines For Tuition Reimbursement

The district shall provide funding for tuition reimbursement in the amount of nineteen thousand ($19,000) per year for the duration of the agreement.  The district shall reimburse employees up to two hundred dollars per class to a maximum of six hundred dollars ($600.00) per employee per contract year for tuition paid to an accredited college or university for graduate level course work directly related to the employee’s area of responsibility or to the employee’s Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP).  The district’s annual disbursement for tuition reimbursement shall not exceed the aforementioned amounts.  Tuition reimbursement shall be disbursed on a “first come, first served” basis.  Disbursements will be provided based on the availability of funds. The District Treasurer shall notify the bargaining unit members when the tuition reimbursement funds have been depleted and shall provide the GEA with an annual report accounting for the amount of dollars disbursed.

For accounting purposes, the date on which the course is scheduled to end shall be the date used to determine the disbursement year.  Although approval of course selection makes the employee eligible for reimbursement it does not guarantee that funds will be available.  Employees are encouraged to submit all documents required for reimbursement to the Superintendent in a timely manner.

For the purpose of this section, the contract year/disbursement year shall be defined as July 1 through June 30.
