Dear Greenville Parent/Guardian,

 

You are receiving this letter because you have indicated that your student(s) will be attending Greenville City Schools remotely the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year. Greenville has made remote learning much easier than this past spring by partnering with the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). The Canvas LMS will allow Greenville teachers to provide instruction to students, including lessons, assignments, quizzes and tests, just as if they were in the classroom. Teachers will have the ability to video lessons to share and even schedule a time to meet one-on-one with your student(s) through video. 

               

            Accessing Canvas can be done on any digital device – iPad, computer or phone – and does not require any additional technology except Wi-Fi. If you do not have access to Wi-Fi, please contact Jim Hooper, Director of Curriculum at 937-548-3185 about possible solutions. 

 

            Students will access Canvas through this app on their iPads,  Student   or by going to Greenville’s Canvas website, https://gcswave.instructure.com on a computer. Your student will then log into the site using their Microsoft 365 login credentials (the same credentials that they use to access Wi-Fi networks). These credentials are:

Username: Student graduation year, student first name, student last [email protected] (ex. [email protected])

Password: A 5-digit number that is specific for each student. If your student does not remember this number, please call your student’s school and the school secretary can provide that for you.

 

            If you have any difficulty accessing the Canvas website, or if your student has any technology issues, please contact Greenville’s Technology department via [email protected], or by visiting Greenville’s webpage and clicking on the Technology link on the home page.

 

The district is also scheduling times for remote learner parents and students to come to a training about how to use Canvas. These trainings will be the week of September 1^st- 3^rd, and will be by grade level. Information about the dates and times is below. Due to COVID restrictions, we ask that families please limit attendance to just one parent and student.
