The Greenville City School’s Board of Education held their regular February meeting at the St. Clair Memorial Hall on Thursday evening February 19, 2015. A work session was conducted to discuss the status of the construction projects and potential alternates to the projects.

Superintendent, Douglas Fries extended the following commendations:
• Jennifer Statzer, teacher at Woodland Primary School for being nominated to be a part of the Ohio Core Advocates Network.
• Greenville Senior High School students that qualified for Business Professional Association State Competition were recognized.
• Tory Martin, JH Theatre Director, the many volunteers and the cast and crew of the Greenville Junior High Theatre Workshop for their performance of “Hankerin Hillbillies” musical.
• Jim Sommer for receiving an award from the State Senate for the Southwest All Ohio Board Member for 2014-2015.

Treasurer, Carla Surber presented the following items receiving the Board of Education approval:
• Approved the Treasurer’s report for the month of January 2015.
• Approved the Schedule of Bills for the month of January 2015.
• Approved bills for payment under the then and now certification.
• Approved appropriations for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015.
• Approved authorization of transfers and advances.
• Approved of an escrow account, for the benefit of Brumbaugh Construction, Inc. between Greenville City Schools, Brumbaugh Construction, Inc. and Second National Bank for the purpose of escrow deposits as a result of the High School Construction Project.
• Approved petty cash fund of $200 be granted for a field trip for Toni Shellabarger and her students' State Competition for the Hospitality & FCCLA Lodging Competition on February 27, 2015.
• The policy manual for the GPAT (Greenville Public Access TV-Channel 5) was approved subject to review and subsequent approval by legal counsel. The policy manual includes all rates and applicable policies to operate the program at the High School and has been approved by the GPAT Board on February 12, 2015.
• Approved Ameritrade Business Investment Account applicable due to a change in Financial Advisor law for investments previously held by Ross, Sinclair and Associates. The agreement will only be placed into effect after review by legal counsel to assure that the school district is acting in compliance with changes in the law relative to Investment policy/procedure and separation between investment professionals.
• Approved to dispose of computers and other technology equipment that were purchased and are no longer being used.
• Approved that the school district, as a result of the determination to dispose of the equipment in question, wishes to enter into an arrangement with Green Wave Computer Recycling, GovDeals.com or any other suitable vendor with whom there is an advantageous disposal of equipment arrangement. Contracts will be reviewed by legal counsel, where deemed necessary.
• Approved a resolution accepting the amount and rates as determined by the Budget Commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the County Auditor

• Several donations for the benefit of the John W. Spidel Memorial Fund.
• One Month Membership to YMCA (Value of $45.00) from Darke County YMCA for the benefit of Woodland Primary Staff contest.
• 19 pairs of Tennis Shoes (Value of $450.00) from Shawn Hayes for the benefit of Woodland Primary students in need.
• $1,068.50 from Box Tops for the benefit of Woodland Primary School.
• $447.31 from LifeTouch for the benefit of Woodland Primary School.
• $218.46 from Pepsi for the benefit of East Intermediate School.
• $1,237.30 from Box Tops for the benefit of East Intermediate School.
• $174.49 from Pepsi for the benefit of South Middle School.
• $138.60 from Box Tops for the benefit of South Middle School.
• Several donations for the benefit of JH Theatre.
• $100.00 from Bob Evans for the benefit of JH ACE program.
• $400.00 from David Smith for the benefit of scholarships for the 8th Grade Washington D.C. trip.
• $100.00 from Ramco Electric Motors, Inc. for the benefit of Greenville Senior High School’s engineering program.
• $150.00 from Kiwanis Club of Greenville for the benefit of Greenville Senior High School’s Key Club.
• $957.62 from Pepsi for the benefit of Greenville Senior High School.
• $250.00 from Darke Elks Benevolence Group for the benefit of Greenville Senior High School’s Supply Chain Management program.
• $1,008.60 from LifeTouch for the benefit of Greenville Junior High School.
• $1,047.20 from LifeTouch for the benefit of East Intermediate School.

Superintendent, Mr. Fries presented the following contracts, purchases and resolutions receiving the Board of Education approval:
• A change order 008 be approved for the high school renovation project with the contractor, Brumbaugh Construction, Inc., in the amount of $41,650.00 will be paid with established construction contingency funds.
• A resolution for natural gas delivery through the Southwestern Ohio Educational Purchasing Council for July 2015-June 2017.
• The annual technical support/service contract renewal for the fingerprint system through Biometric Information Management at a cost of $600.00.
• A contract with Midwest Regional Education Service Center for vision impaired services and/or orientation and mobility for 1 additional student for the remainder of the 2014-2015 school year at a cost of $2,200.00.

Superintendent, Mr. Fries presented the following curriculum items receiving the Board of Education approval:
• Accepted the Superintendent’s Report on verified acts of harassment, intimidation, and bullying as defined and prescribed by Board Policy JFCF for the first semester of the 2014-2015 school year.
• Mary Lee Moore was approved as a building volunteer for Woodland Primary School.
• The 2015-2016 Greenville Senior High School’s Registration Guide.
• An overnight field trip to Columbus, Ohio, on March 12-13, 2015, for the purpose of the State BPA Competition for 26 Career Tech students. The students will be under the supervision of instructors, Nathan Sharp, Margie Heitkamp, Dara Buchy, and Lori Hoover.
• An overnight field trip to Columbus, Ohio, on February 27-28, 2015, for the purpose of the FCCLA Competition. The students will be under the supervision of instructors Toni Shellabarger and Jessica Shaffer.
• The annual membership fee of $150.00 for Andrea Townsend for Crisis Prevention Institute recertification.
• Course fees for Adult Workforce Development for the remaining of the 2014-2015 school year: Welding-$1,100.00; STNA-$575.00; Taking Charge of Your Life-$1,600.00; Serve Safe Management-$750.00; Serve Safe Production-$750.00; Customized Training-$125.00 per hour.
• An overnight trip for the GHS Wrestlers that qualify for District competition and their coaches, David Guillozet, Micah Coblentz and Kyle Cromwell during March 6 & 7, 2015 in Mansfield, Ohio.

Superintendent, Mr. Fries presented the following personnel items receiving the Board of Education approval:
• The resignation of Krista Subler, Guidance Counselor, Greenville Senior High School, be accepted for retirement purposes effective June 30, 2015. Thank you, Mrs. Subler, for your years of dedication and service to the District and students.
• The resignation of Brenda Hall, Bus Driver, be accepted effective February 17, 2015.
• The resignation of Teresa Schaaf, as a home instruction teacher for a student effective January 9, 2015.
• The resignation of Scott Strain, as Cross Country Coach effective February 13, 2015.
• Employed Sondra Marker in food service at South Middle School effective February 23, 2015.
• Teresa Bridgers, Frank Diver, Regina Harris, Dawn Hoffman, Elizabeth Jefferis, Cheryl Karn, Kathy McClimans, Brad Spettel, and Kendra Stollar were approved as certified substitute staff.
• Jerry Downey, Kirt Fletcher, Brenda Hall, Allen Luce, Julie Monahan, Melinda Segura, Connie Studebaker, and Kathrine Ungerwere approved to serve as classified substitute staff.
• Susan Arhens was approved as a Home Instruction Teacher.
• Deb Mendenhall and Krista Quellhorst were approved for 9 additional hours each at their contracted hourly rate of pay to meet kindergarten registration responsibilities for the 2014-2015 school year.
• Jan Culbertson, substitute teacher, was approved to be increased to 1.4 times the regular substitute teacher rate effective January 26, 2015, since she has completed 20 consecutive days of substitute teaching in the same position.
• Tuition reimbursement was approved for payment to Whitney Arnett, Cindy Timmerman and Lydia Brenner.
• Administrative tuition reimbursement was approved for Rachel Glass and Carla Surber.
• Supplemental contracts were awarded to: Dennis Kiser-Varsity Boys Tennis Coach; Jill Davis-JV Boys Tennis Coach; Eric Blumenstock-Varsity Baseball Coach; Chris Ward-Freshman Baseball Coach; Jerrod Newland-Varsity Softball Coach; Laura Swigart-JV Softball Coach; William Plessinger-High School Track; Micah Coblentz-Asst. HS Track; Matt Levek-Asst. HS Track; Stephanie Lind-Asst. HS Track; Mark Jackson-JH Track; Steve Lantz-Asst. JH Track; and Adam Eberwein-Asst. JH Track. Beth Arnold, Dennis Ruble, and Ryan Miller were approved as volunteers.
• Professional Development was approved for Kathy Jetter-Feb 20-22,2015; Dara Buchy and Nathan Sharp-March 11-13, 2015; Laura Bemus and Shawna Wise-March 17-19, 2015; Carla Surber-April 14-17, 2015; Nathan Sharp-February 11, 2015; and Jon McGreevey-March 18-20, 2015.
• Approved the Board of Education Senior High Art Award for $200.00 for the 2014-2015 school year.

The meeting was adjourned after an executive session. The February regular Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday March 24th at 7:00 p.m. in the Anna Bier Civic Room of St. Clair Memorial Hall due to Waves of Pride being held on Thursday, March 19, 2015.
