Greenville Latchkey Program

Greenville City Schools began offering a latchkey program (before and after school care of children) for students in grades K – 4. Latchkey is a service that parents have been asking for and the district finally has the space to make it available. It is a service provided to families for before and after school care for children.

Tiffany Labig is the supervisor of the program. Mrs. Labig is a lifetime resident of Greenville and is committed to the service that the program offers families with quality care for students.

The Latchkey program is being held in the kindergarten wing of the district’s new K-8 facility. This area provides easy access for drop off and pick up. It is also the ideal space because of its location to the gym and playground. iPads are available for extended learning time. Many teachers have expressed their support of the program because students are at school and available, if a teacher wants to give extra instructional support. Students are provided healthy snacks in the before school and after school sessions.

Registration for the program began on Aug. 15. The school age child care program opens at 6:30 a.m. for before school and remains open after school until 6 p.m. Fees for latchkey are as follows: Registration fee $20; full time a.m. and p.m. $60 per week; before school a.m. $40 per week; after school p.m. $40 per week; each additional child in family $40 per week both a.m. and p.m.; each additional child in family $25 per week for a.m. or p.m. only; emergency/drop in $15 per visit. If interested in registration, call the K – 4 Elementary school office at 548-3185.
