other school activities at GHS such as theatre, band, orchestra, sports, art,
Spanish Club, National Honor Society, Environmental Club, and French Club.
The group performs for many civic organizations and churches throughout the
State of Ohio. On June 9-13, 2003, the Wavaires performed at The Cathedral
of St. John the Divine, the world's largest cathedral in New York City.
They presented an hour and a half evening concert. The group also performed
at Rosa Parks Performing Arts High school in Paterson, New Jersey where they
gave an hour assembly. The Wavaires also performed at South Street
Seaport, the Statue of Liberty, and at St. Paul's Chapel at Ground Zero.
Also, in December of 2002, the Wavaires were asked to perform for the Governor
of the State of Ohio, the honorable Robert Taft, for the lighting of the state
Christmas tree. In 2001, the Wavaires were selected to perform at the National Gifted Convention. This show choir has performed at Disneyland twice and at Walt Disney World three times. The group has received many honors: Grand Champions at the Piqua Show Choir Contest 4 times; Grand Champions at the Kettering Show Choir Contest twice; represented the state of Ohio twice in the Young American National Performance Choir Contest and Oak Hill Contest; received straight superior ratings at MusicFest Orlando and Performing Arts Festival in Florida and won not only as a show choir but as a concert choir also. The group performs for many area organizations, clubs, and churches.
