CAREER-TECHNICAL PROGRAMS
Agricultural Education
These programs
are for students interested in all aspects of agriculture and agricultural
concepts.
Agricultural Manufacturing:
includes vertical MIG welding, metal lathe work, basic electricity, woodworking,
blueprint drawing and reading, sheet metal work, metal processing, fabrication,
assembly and spray painting.
Agriculture Business:
includes careers in agriculture, entrepreneurship, advertising, communications,
financial planning, human relations, and business decision making.
Auto
Technology
Students will
learn all phases of Auto Technology taught by ASE certified instructors.
AYES Internships are available for all student who have completed their junior
year. Students participate in the organization Skills USA-VICA, VICA Skill
Olympics and Tech Prep Showcase.
Business Academy
The academy provides flexibility in course
selection based on the student's career goals and interests. Articulation
agreements with Edison and Sinclair along with strong business partnerships will
provide students with multiple options for continuing their academic and
professional education.
Computer Information Systems (CIS):
Students study the industry standards in software and gain experience in trouble
shooting both software and hardware problems. They participate in the
Cisco Academy program, a comprehensive program which provides students with
Internet technology/networking skills essential in a global economy.
Financial Specialist:
This program is for students who
want to pursue a business career in areas of finance and/or management.
Students who study in this major will become proficient in the Microsoft Office
software, as well as develop business knowledge in Accounting, Computer
Applications, Office Procedure, Management, Business Law and Entrepreneurship.
Interactive Media:
Students in Interactive Media will
produce IMTV, a weekly GHS broadcast. The skills the student learns in
Interactive Media can be applied to almost any career field, but for those with
interests in movie production, web design, entertainment, communications, art,
graphic design, music, theatre, or broadcasting, it is an excellent choice.
Supply Chain Management: Supply
Chain Management students start to learn business concepts related to buying
goods/services and getting them to the right place at the right time for the
right price. Students will study logistics, marketing, materials handling,
packaging, and inventory control. They will develop leadership skills
through co-curricular club activities and Business Professionals of America.
Careers with Children
This program provides valuable
experiences and knowledge in child development that you can utilize as you
pursue your career goal as an early childhood education teacher, a nanny, a
teacher aide or a home child care provider.
Carpentry
In
this program, students will learn shop safety, blueprinting orientation, trade
math, basic construction, use of power tools, project planning, estimating, and
new home construction.
Medical Tech Prep
This programs
introduces students to a variety of occupations in health care. The
students will learn medical terminology, computer skills, infection control,
career exploration, first-aid/CPR, human relations, patient care, anatomy and
physiology, phlebotomy, and electrocardiography.
Engineering Technology
This is a
two-year course covering various engineering disciplines. Students learn
CADD, Microsoft Office Software, Basic Computer Hardware, Electrical Circuits,
Basic Electronics with Electronics Workbench Software, Building and Programming
Robots, the study of various materials and Time Management.
Hospitality and
Facility Care
Students in this program gain
real-world workplace experience. Students work within the community in a variety
of non-paid training placements. They have the opportunity to experience
environmental services, laundry and linen technology, nutrition services,
materials management, grounds-keeping, and other hospitality-related service
positions. The program is designed to provide close contact with the instructor
as well as mentors and job site supervisors.
Marketing
This program is for students
interested in advertising, sales, business management, marketing research, and
customer relations. Students develop communication, problem-solving, and
employable skills beneficial in achieving success in the work force. Students
are also eligible for early release job training through this program.
Career Based
Intervention
CBI is a program for students who
have barriers in achieving academic and career success. The program emphasizes
motivation toward improved academic performance and preparation for a productive
career.

"Career Technical education is one of the
best educational opportunities available today to high school students. You can
learn career skills, earn real money on the job while training and even take
courses for college credit while on campus at Greenville High School.
If you have an interest in Auto Technology,
Business, Child Care, Carpentry Trades, Engineering, Interactive
Media, Marketing, Agriculture, or Medical occupations, we have a program that will get you out in the work world
and learning technical skills hands-on.
The
career preparation provided in our programs is top quality; the evidence is the
large number of our programs affiliated with the Tech Prep consortiums, working
closely with local colleges like Edison and Sinclair as well as other near-by 4-year colleges.
